Sideline does not require an account, does not collect gameplay data, and does not sell personal data. The only data collection in this app comes from an optional, opt-in advertising feature described below.
Some in-game choices let you watch a short video ad, through Google AdMob, in exchange for an in-game reward. This is always optional: declining or skipping an ad never costs you anything, and the game is fully playable without ever watching one.
To show these ads, AdMob (and the ad-measurement services it relies on) may collect an advertising identifier, IP address, general device information, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is standard for any app using AdMob and is Google's data collection, governed by Google's Privacy Policy — see also how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
Where required by law (for example, players in the EEA and UK), Sideline asks for your consent to this data collection the first time the app is opened, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change that choice at any time from the in-game pause menu (Privacy button, shown whenever a choice is available to change).
Sideline offers one optional, one-time purchase that turns off every ad in the game. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. Sideline never sees, receives, or stores your payment details — no card number, no billing address, nothing. Google's handling of the transaction is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
All the app itself keeps is a single on/off marker on your device recording that ads are switched off. The purchase belongs to your Google account, not to this phone, which is how it comes back by itself if you reinstall the game or move to a new device.
Sideline saves your progress — the current chapter, your five stat values, the cards already played, and your language and volume preferences — using Android's standard app-preferences storage. This information stays on your device, is not readable by other apps, and is never sent anywhere.
Uninstalling the app deletes it. You can also erase it at any time from Android Settings › Apps › Sideline › Storage › Clear data, or by using Restart inside the game's pause menu.
Sideline is not directed at children under 13, and ad requests are configured as not directed at children.
Sideline requests internet access, the advertising ID permission, and Google Play's billing permission. The first two are used only to request and show the optional rewarded ads described above; the third only to offer the optional purchase. No other Android runtime permission is requested.
If a future version of Sideline changes what data it collects, this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the change will be described here with a new date at the top.
